{simple things}

We've been so busy the last few weeks that I haven't gotten around to doing my simple things!! So this week, I am making time while watching the season premier of the Bachelor Pad. Gotta love smutty reality TV!

In the last few weeks, Greyson has become a huge fan of hanging upside down! He just giggles uncontrollably which makes my heart happy!

Despite the ridiculously hot/humid weather we have been having, we still have some wild flowers in our yard! Unfortunately, the wild flowers bring bees which aren't my favorite but I know that they are good for our garden.
At the beginning of the month, we had a surprise 50th birthday party for my mom! We got together at my grandpa's house and Greyson played with some of the kiddos that were there. Avery was such a little mother hen. She followed Greyson around and made sure he didn't get into anything that he shouldn't. She got out a bunch of 'boy' toys to entertain Mr. G.

It's the simple things that matter most...

Tyler had to work at the police department the last two nights, so it's just been me and G hanging out most of the weekend. I love the weekends we have to ourselves! Little mister climbs over me like a jungle gym and lets me chase him through the house while he giggles hysterically! He has the most perfect laugh in the whole wide world.

We started our Saturday morning off with some light reading in our "vast" library. We're Going On A Bear Hunt is a classic that we always enjoy!

Reading was so mentally exhausting that it was time for a snack and a cuddle with mom.

With a full tummy, soft blanket, and an awesome mommy, it was time to end our morning with a nap! (My personal favorite!)

Best Saturday morning I could possibly ask for!

My simple things.

Our Memorial Day weekend started off very relaxing, with nothing exciting going on. Just hanging out around our house. Of course, we thoroughly enjoyed it! Unfortunately, we ended our holiday weekend, driving all over the state of Iowa. We headed down to Grandma's Monday morning and spent the day there. Thank goodness they got their patio done so we could sit out in the backyard. Like any other baby (I'm guessing), Greyson loves to be tossed up in the air. We can always count on getting a squeal out of the little guy! He just makes us so happy!

Well, for only being 8 months old, Greyson has sure become an expert at crawling! We can't take our eyes off of him for a second! Grandma has wood floors that G loved crawling around on. Until I took this picture, I didn't realize how dirty Grandma's floors apparently were! I love the dirt on his feet, I'll always remember that this was taken during his crawling stage.

While we were at Grandma's, she told us about a bike path that crossed the river not far from her house and how the bridge had been redone, so we decided that we would go up for a walk in the evening. On the way up there, we had to go through a small town where I had seen an amazing treasure just sitting in a field. I had to make everyone stop so I could take pictures with my uncooperative little boy. I'm definitely going to have to stop out at this old Chevy again when Mr. G gets a little bit older!

The bike path bridge was just about a mile to the other side and it happened to be an old railroad bridge that has been completely redone! The view wasn't too bad!

Tyler and I had to take Tuesday off, so that we could attend a funeral. Even though a family member had passed, it was so great to see my extended family that we don't see too often. I love getting pictures like this of my older relatives with Greyson. This was the first time that my great uncle had met G. Amazing memories!

Hope everyone else had a great (short) week!

Simple Things

My simple things are all from our sweet little Saturday (yesterday!) For once, we had absolutely NO plans and nothing in particular that we wanted to get done around the house. We just lounged around in the living room until noon, which is rare for us. Greyson was 8 months old yesterday and he is so mobile. Crawling everywhere, standing with assistance, and now trying to stand on his own. Where did my little baby go?! He has been so intrigued with the screen door lately.

I could sit and watch him look out the window for hours. It's so neat as a mother to watch him processing everything that is going on outside. That little boy amazes me!

I've been trying to teach Tyler how to take photos in manual and I think he's getting a little better. I'm so glad he was able to catch this photo of me and Greyson. I feel like I don't have many photos of the two of us because I'm always the one taking the pictures!

We spent most of our afternoon in the backyard. Greyson got to play in his pool and was so mesmerized by our neighbor mowing. He just stood there and watched him for 10 minutes! If you notice this fabulous 'cage' we had to put around him, he is so interested in going anywhere and everywhere, that we need to contain him! To top of our great day, we spent our evening on the deck, enjoying our new patio furniture, margaritas, and fresh guacamole! GREAT day!

Simple Things.

We spent our Saturday hiking around at a state park about an hour from where we live. (Sort of a 'make-up Mother's Day!) We hiked up to a cave, watched others trout fishing, stopped at a beach, and then had a picnic! Of course, it wore the little man out, which we were happy about. While we were at the beach, we let Greyson stand in the lake. Despite it being fairly cold water, he seemed to enjoy stomping his little feet in it!
